Ukraine will receive 42 Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers from Latvia

Latvia continues to actively support Ukraine in the war against Russian invaders. This year, the country will deliver 42 Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers, most of which will be brand new.

This is reported by LSM.lv with reference to the Ministry of Defence of Latvia. The armored personnel carriers are manufactured by SIA Defence Partnership Latvia.

"We continue to support Ukraine. Compared to previous years, we had the opportunity to provide support from our reserves. But this year we already see that we need to invest in funding and essentially also purchase weapons, which we also provide to Ukraine," said Latvia’s Minister of Defence Andris Spruds.

Last year, Latvia provided Ukraine with military aid worth 100 million euros (over 0.25% of GDP). A similar level of support is planned for this and next year.

Patria 6×6 (Patria XA-300) is a modern armored personnel carrier developed by the Finnish company Patria. Its main purpose is troop transport, but the platform allows easy adaptation of the vehicle for various combat tasks.

For example, the armored personnel carrier can be equipped with: amphibious systems, winches, enhanced armored protection, and various weapon systems.

The vehicle’s design provides for the driver’s and commander’s placement at the front, the engine compartment behind the driver, and the rear compartment for troops and special equipment.
