Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a war against Ukraine, hoping for a quick victory that would grant Russia the status of a "leader of a multipolar world." However, instead of a triumph, Russia became bogged down in an exhausting conflict, leading to its increased dependence on China.
This was stated by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalenko.
According to him, the Kremlin is now forced to make concessions to stronger players, as the war has exhausted all other resources.
"Russia will eventually pay for this war with its own resources," emphasized Kovalenko.
He noted that as early as 1997, American political scientist Zbigniew Brzezinski warned about the risk of Russia’s complete dependence on China and Iran. Today, this scenario is becoming a reality: Moscow is no longer an equal ally but merely a raw material appendage and sales market for Beijing.
Kovalenko stressed that Putin’s statements about possible supplies of rare earth metals to the U.S. are not at all what the "Russian soldier" fought for. Russian soldiers believed they were fighting against NATO, but in fact, they died so that Putin could sell off Russian resources to the West and China.
Contrary to the Kremlin’s expectations, Ukraine not only endured but now has one of the strongest armies in the world. Kovalenko emphasized that no capture of Ukrainian territories will ever be legally recognized, and sooner or later, Ukraine will regain control over all its land.
"Instead of being a bridge between China and the West, Russia has turned into a battlefield for its own resources," concluded the representative of the National Security and Defence Council.
