Canada has announced its support for Ukraine

The Prime Minister of Canada expressed support for Zelenskyy after his disagreements with Trump.

“Canada will continue to support Ukraine and Ukrainians in their pursuit of a just and sustainable peace,” wrote Justin Trudeau on X.

Canada’s Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly emphasized that it is extremely important for her country and other allies to work with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to achieve a beneficial peace agreement for Ukraine in response to Russian aggression.

She shared her comments at an event in Vancouver shortly after Zelenskyy’s meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump escalated into a conflict. Zelensky left the White House without signing a deal related to critical minerals, and Trump lashed out at him on social media, accusing the Ukrainian leader of discrediting him.

“He has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and courage. He will never agree to an unfavorable deal,” Joly stated about Zelenskyy. “For us, it is important to ensure cooperation with him and our allies on this issue.”

“If we don’t reach a good deal for Ukraine, it will be a signal to Russia, and we know that President Putin has no red lines. If he has no red lines, it means NATO territory is at risk, and if NATO territory is at risk, then we are in danger,” she said.

She stressed the importance of conducting diplomatic negotiations to end the war and reaching a peace agreement that will ensure Putin does not “walk away, rearm, and attack again.”
