Ukraine has accepted the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire across the entire territory. This decision was made to demonstrate Ukraine’s readiness for peace.
This was announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, at a briefing.
As noted by the President, during the meeting between the teams of Ukraine and the US in Saudi Arabia, the proposal for a silence in the air and at sea was discussed. However, the American side later proposed a different approach.
According to Zelenskyy, during the meeting, the Ukrainian team was with him, while the American delegation was with the US President, Donald Trump, and they raised the question of whether Ukraine was ready to take steps for silence across the entire territory.
"I have emphasized this repeatedly, none of us trusts the Russians, we’ve been through this already, but we will not play with the narratives that we do not want to end the war. I am very serious about this; it is important for me to end the war. I want the US President to see this, for Europe, everyone to be united in forcing Russia to end the war. Therefore, my response was — we are ready for a 30-day silence format in the form proposed by the American side," he explained.
