According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), the teenager was eliminated as an "unnecessary witness". The special service warned Ukrainians about a new tactic of the enemy.

Law enforcement officers uncovered a terrorist act in Kharkiv region, which resulted in the deaths of a serviceman and a teenager. Details were shared on March 14 by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine.

The terrorist act was organized by Russian special services at the beginning of February. A 15-year-old student, pretending to be a courier, brought explosives to a National Guard military unit. The improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated together with the underage agent. Besides him, a serviceman for whom the "package" was intended also died.

Law enforcement officers detained an accomplice to the terrorist act, who turned out to be a 28-year-old unemployed woman from Kharkiv. The woman, following enemy instructions, made the explosives for the "courier". According to the investigation, the IED was "enhanced" with additional elements for greater damage and a mobile phone for remote activation.

The Kharkiv woman put the ready explosives in a sports bag, which she left in her building’s entrance. From there, it was taken by the 15-year-old boy, who was found by the Russians through a Telegram channel searching for "easy money". After taking the bag, he ordered a taxi and went with the explosives to the military unit. Enemy special service officers tracked the student using the GPS navigation in his phone.

When the "courier" reached the planned location, the explosives were detonated remotely, destroying their own agent as an "unnecessary witness". The accomplice was detained at her residence, and during searches, components for a new IED and a mobile phone were found, which she used to maintain contact with the enemy.

The Kharkiv woman is suspected under two articles: aiding a terrorist act that resulted in the death of people, and illegal acquisition and storage of an explosive device. She is currently in custody without bail, facing life imprisonment with property confiscation.

"The Security Service of Ukraine warns Ukrainians: Russian special services have begun to use a new tactic. They blow up their own agents, use them ’blindly’, and then dispose of them as unnecessary witnesses. If you or your acquaintances are offered to ’simply deliver a package’ to a Territorial Center, police, or another administrative building, know that they want to kill you," the agency stated.

The press service urged reporting recruitment attempts to the SSU chat-bot "Spali FSbivtsia". The special service guarantees complete confidentiality and promises to carefully process every message.
