Ukraine requests Italy and France to send additional Samp-T air defence missiles
As reported by the Italian publication Corriere della Sera, the two Samp-T air defence system batteries provided to Ukraine by Italy and France have nearly exhausted their supply of missiles.
For several weeks, the government of Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been appealing to both countries to send additional Aster-30 missiles, which are used for launching from the Samp-T system. According to sources, Ukraine needs at least fifty such missiles. However, as noted, the Italian reserve has almost reached the level of operational readiness, and most of the available missiles are used to protect important national facilities.
To address the issue of missile supply, Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umyerov met with his Italian counterpart Guido Crosetto in Rome on Friday.
