The court is choosing a preventive measure for the Armed Forces officer suspected of killing activist Hanul

A court session is ongoing in Odesa regarding the preventive measure for Senior Lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Shalayev, who is suspected of murdering activist Hanul.

Shalayev appeared in the courtroom wearing a bulletproof vest and helmet, likely for safety reasons. During the open part of the session, it was revealed that he held the position of commander of a mechanized platoon of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign.

However, the court decided to proceed with the case in a closed session. This means that the public will not yet know the official position of the suspect – whether he admits his guilt and what motive for the crime is stated.

The prosecution insists on detaining Shalayev without the possibility of bail. It is expected that the court’s decision will be announced soon.
