Russian troops launched an attack on Pokrovsk on the morning of Monday, March 17, hitting a private house. As a result of the strike, three children were injured.
This was announced by the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin. "Three children were injured today by Russian weapons in Pokrovsk. The Russians shelled the city this morning, hitting a private house where the children were staying: girls aged 15 and 8, and a boy aged 12," the statement said.
In particular, the children suffered mine-explosive injuries, burns, fractures, and bruises. The 15-year-old girl and the boy were evacuated by air ambulance to a hospital in Dnipro, and the 8-year-old girl was hospitalized in a medical facility in Dobropillia. All three are receiving the necessary medical assistance.
As it turned out, these children were evacuated with their family from the frontline village of Pishchane to their grandmother’s place in Poltava region back in October 2024. However, their parents decided to return to Pokrovsk despite the constant threat of shelling.
"Adults who force their children to stay under shelling in frontline cities provoke outrage. If you don’t take care of yourself, at least protect your children! Don’t wait for a shell or bomb to hit your house! Evacuate!" Filashkin urged.
Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated in a criminal proceeding on the fact of a war crime (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Prosecutors are taking all possible and necessary measures to document the cynical attack of the occupiers on the civilian population.
