In Kyiv, public transport will start operating even during air raid alerts. The changes will take effect on March 21.
This was reported by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, on Telegram.
According to Tkachenko, from March 21, public transport in Kyiv, both municipal and private, will operate under new conditions.
In particular, during an air raid alert, transport will stop near shelters along the route. During this time, passengers will be able to leave the vehicle if they wish.
Afterwards, drivers will inform about the possibility of resuming movement, and after those wishing to disembark have done so, the transport will continue along the route.
"The respective changes will be made to the drivers’ job instructions. This is not just a change in rules – it is a logical and necessary step towards the normal functioning of the city. Kyiv must keep moving," Tkachenko wrote.
At the same time, the Kyiv City State Administration clarified that the protocol of the Kyiv Defence Council states that the driver also has the right to decide to go to a shelter during the air raid alert.
Also, according to the Kyiv City State Administration, the Kyiv Metro will continue to operate in the same mode for now. The movement of trains on the above-ground sections of the metro will remain limited during the announcement of an air raid alert.
