NABU and SAPO have completed the investigation regarding the former Deputy Minister of Energy

NABU and SAPO Completed Investigation Regarding Former Deputy Minister of Energy.

According to NABU, as reported on their website.

NABU and SAPO completed the pre-trial investigation into the suspicion that the former deputy minister of energy received undue advantage for granting permission to export mining equipment from the frontline zone.

As the investigation found, the official, in collusion with the head of one of the state coal enterprises from the East and two other individuals, approached an advisor of the head of another coal enterprise located in the western region to provide an undue advantage amounting to 500 thousand USD. In return, he promised to ensure the transfer for storage with the possibility of using valuable equipment for coal mining from the mines of one state enterprise to another. The matter was practically about rescuing this equipment, as it was located near the combat zone.

The funds were to be transferred in five installments of 100 thousand USD each.

During the transfer of the third installment, the co-conspirators were caught "red-handed."

In August 2024, NABU and SAPO, together with the SSU and the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, detained all four participants in the scheme in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
