Due to Russian strikes on gas production, Ukraine is concluding the heating season, – Kucherenko

The heating season in Ukraine is coming to an end due to a shortage of gas. This happened as a result of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s gas production infrastructure, informed the Member of Parliament from the All-Ukrainian Union "Fatherland" political party, the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services, Oleksiy Kucherenko.

He reminded that recently, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out five powerful strikes on Ukraine’s gas production infrastructure, which led to a loss of 40% of their production capacity.

"We are simply lacking gas now. Therefore, the initiative to end the heating season came from the GTS operator, who is responsible for the gas balance, as well as from NJSC Naftogaz. It so happened that we managed to make it to the end of March," said the MP.

Oleksiy Kucherenko’s statement was not commented on by either the Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko or NJSC Naftogaz Ukraine.
