Russian court sentenced a ZNPP engineer to 19 years in prison
In Russia, a court sentenced a worker of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), Serhiy Potynh, to 19 years in a high-security prison.
This was announced by the mayor of Enerhodar, Dmytro Orlov, on Wednesday, March 26.
He noted that Potynh is a civilian engineer at the Zaporizhzhya NPP. The occupiers kidnapped him on June 23, 2023, and have been holding him illegally since then. While in captivity, the man was also subjected to regular torture.
Orlov added that the man was found guilty of completely fabricated charges, including alleged terrorism. Other details of the case were not disclosed.
"It is obvious that this is revenge for his dedication to Ukraine. The man’s life and health are at risk," wrote the mayor of Enerhodar.
On March 6, it was reported that in the temporarily occupied Enerhodar, the Russians sentenced a 56-year-old Zaporizhzhya NPP employee, Nataliya Shulha, to 15 years in prison. She was accused of "attempted sabotage" and allegedly conspiring with employees of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The occupiers claimed that in June 2024, the woman allegedly attempted to blow up a power line in Enerhodar to disrupt the power supply in one of the city’s districts.
