What is known about the politician who might have been killed in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

On the morning of March 28, the police received a report about a body on the roadside in the Kamyanske district. During a preliminary examination, a gunshot wound to the head was discovered. An investigation has been launched into the case of intentional murder.

According to Suspilne, the body belongs to former vice-mayor and member of the "Batkivshchyna" party Oleksandr Plakhotnik.

– said a member of the regional party organization, Volodymyr Fedorov.

It is known that Oleksandr Plakhotnik was born on April 4, 1975, in Dniprodzerzhynsk (now Kamyanske).

The politician held the position of general director of the municipal enterprise "Misksvodokanal" of the Kamyanske City Council and was a member of the political party "Batkivshchyna". Since 2015, he has served as the deputy mayor of Kamianske.

In recent years, he was considered the main sponsor of the Dnipropetrovsk branch of the "Batkivshchyna" party. His wife, Olena Plakhotnik, holds the position of regional council deputy and heads the regional branch of the party.

In 2014, Oleksandr Plakhotnik attempted to run for the Verkhovna Rada in a single-member district but was unsuccessful. For some time, Plakhotnik worked as an assistant to Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksandra Kuzhel.

In July 2018, the deceased founded the charity organization "Oleksandr Plakhotnik Charitable Fund ’Native Homeland’.

Media claim that Plakhotnik was a long-time business partner of the Dubinskyi brothers, who are associated with corruption scandals.
