In Ukraine, the production of a Starlink analogue is being launched

It concerns flat terminals similar to the automotive Starlink from Starmod.

The Ukrainian company Stetman has signed an agreement with the Swedish company Requtech for licensed mass production of satellite internet terminals, which will serve as an alternative to Elon Musk’s Starlink. This was reported by Stetman’s CEO, Dmytro Stetsenko, on his Facebook page.

«Thanks to this, Ukraine will not only obtain an alternative to Starlink, for which we are sincerely grateful for the timely technological support and will continue to cooperate with them, but will also have its own production of satellite equipment. Primarily, this will meet our internal needs and in the future — will allow us to export products to strengthen the European satellite infrastructure!» the post by Stetsenko states.

The Swedish company will transfer to Ukraine the technical documentation and the rights to independently manufacture the satellite terminal based on their Resa development. The Ukrainian company will adapt the Swedish development to its needs by adding its own design, protection, and components already used in Starmod systems for Starlink.

According to him, the agreement with Requtech does not specify a specific production volume. In an optimistic scenario, in six months, the Ukrainian company plans to launch production with a capacity of 2000 to 10000 terminals per month, while paying the Swedish company a licensing fee for each product.

At the same time, Stetsenko mentioned that it is not advisable to abandon Starlink just yet and added that «it’s better to have backup systems and ensure funding sources for using both networks».
