
The vessels of the Ukrainian Riverine Flotilla of the Navy, which took part in the defence of the northern and southern frontiers of the country, were showcased as part of an event marking the third anniversary of the creation of the respective division in the Cherkasy region.
According to data from the publication "Militarnyi," these high-speed multipurpose SURC (Small Unit Riverine Craft) boats are equipped with powerful machine gun armament, including the M134 Minigun.
The publication emphasizes that the 38-foot SURC vessels were transferred to Ukraine by the United States in 2022 as part of military assistance. They are actively used by the U.S. Marines and Navy for operations in coastal areas and rivers.

The Ukrainian SURC are equipped with two M134 Minigun machine guns at the front and a Mk 19 or M2 Browning grenade launcher at the back. This armament provides high fire density, allowing effective combat against drones and other aerial targets. Additionally, for navigation and communication, the boats are equipped with Yanmar 6LY2A-STP engines, AN/PSN-11 radios, Raymarine SL72 LCD radar, and ST 60 echo sounder.
"Such weaponry enables effective air defence tasks by ’drenching’ enemy drones with a barrage of fire," the material states.
