What is known about the explosions

According to Russian sources, loud explosions were heard in the village of Barsovo in the Vladimir region. The 51st Arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) of the Russian Ministry of Defence is located near this village. Preliminary reports indicate that an explosion occurred there with subsequent detonation.

Local residents stated that shortly before the explosions, the sounds of drones were heard.

Evacuation has already been announced in nearby settlements. The entrance to the village of Barsovo has been blocked. Locals report that detonation is still ongoing in Barsovo. There is also significant smoke observed by residents all over the Kirzhach district in the Vladimir region. The Russian authorities have declared a state of emergency in the region.




What is known about the 51st GRAU arsenal

The 51st GRAU arsenal is one of the largest ammunition depots of the Russian Ministry of Defence. It is located in the Vladimir region, in the Kirzhach district, near the village of Barsovo, approximately 8 kilometers from the city of Kirzhach.

Preliminary data indicates that approximately 105,000 tons of ammunition are stored there: artillery shells, rockets for multiple launch rocket systems, SAM components, tactical missiles of the "Tochka-U" type.

The distance from the farthest point of the Ukraine-Russia border to the arsenal is over 500 kilometers.
