Russian strike on Dnipropetrovsk region: 12-year-old Marharyta Titarenko killed

Russian attack with strike UAVs on Dnipropetrovsk region on the night of April 29 killed 12-year-old Marharyta. The house collapsed on her while she was sleeping.

The strike on the residential building occurred in the Samarivka district. This was reported by Suspilne and Radio Svoboda.

On the night of April 29, Russia attacked Dnipropetrovsk region with strike UAVs. In the Samarivka district, two children aged 12 and 6 were trapped under the rubble. 12-year-old Marharyta died on the way to the hospital. Her 6-year-old sister was rescued from the rubble and survived, while the children’s parents also sustained injuries and are all in the hospital.

The tragedy was recounted by the grandmother of the deceased girl, Mariya. After the Russian strike, neighbors, relatives, and Marharyta’s classmates came to the collapsed house to rescue people.

Unfortunately, a pole fell on the girl while she was sleeping in a room on the first floor. When she was pulled from the rubble, she was still alive.

"It’s just indescribable. What did that child do to deserve this? What could have been targeted here when peaceful residents lived here. I came on Sunday, she was silent, as if she sensed something. Ryta was downstairs. If it weren’t for the pole, maybe the child would have been saved," said Mariya.

"The younger child was taken to the hospital. They were on the second floor. They often slept downstairs in a room, and if they had been there, the same thing would have happened. I don’t know by what miracle they were saved," the grandmother added.

The deceased’s classmates, as previously mentioned, helped to rescue their friend and find it hard to believe that she died.

"She was very kind, friendly, helped everyone. Mostly she was praised, studied well. She loved mathematics, the Ukrainian language, and loved all subjects," said one of the girls.

Another added that she last saw her friend at school a day before her death.

"I can’t believe this happened. I found out about this situation, and that was it - I didn’t know what to do. I just couldn’t believe it. We were just at school yesterday, and now it’s all over," she said.

Marharyta studied really well, repeatedly winning awards in creative contests and olympiads, actively participating in events at the local House of Culture.

Teachers remember Marharyta as a sincere, well-mannered, and bright child with an open heart and a kind attitude towards people.
