Ukrainians were warned about a possible gas shortage in winter

A part of Ukraine may run out of gas next winter due to Russian shelling, reported Nahornyak, a member of the energy committee of the Rada.

According to him, a gas deficit of up to 5 billion cubic meters is forecasted for the next winter. Gas production in Ukraine has decreased by more than half due to the shelling of infrastructure, and purchasing gas in Europe will be expensive.

"Restoring the infrastructure for gas production is an important task, but it is already necessary to think about ways to protect it in the future. The Russians reject any U.S. proposals to end the war. If the Russians continue to attack our gas infrastructure throughout this year, up until autumn, even having gas in storage will not guarantee that all regions will have gas. It is impossible to protect the entire gas infrastructure with concrete structures. Therefore, for Ukraine, the complete end of the war and achieving full peace is of vital importance," stated the deputy.
