The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, agreed to a meeting on May 15 in Istanbul, Turkey, with the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, to demonstrate the desire for peace.

This was stated by the advisor to the head of the Presidential Office, Serhiy Leshchenko, during a telethon broadcast.

"For us, the situation is now a win-win - Ukraine is going and showing its readiness for the diplomatic track. If Putin does not come, it shows his weakness, and if he comes, he is in a position where he has to come up with fake arguments to continue the war, while the whole world is watching," he believes.

According to him, the next move is up to Russia.

"They are gradually falling into the trap of their own snares. They thought they were setting a trap for us when they said they were expecting us in Turkey on Thursday," Leshchenko pointed out.

At the same time, he reminded that Zelenskyy responded by saying that he is going to Istanbul.

"The ball is now in Putin’s court. It’s interesting to see how they will maneuver out of this situation in the Kremlin. Maybe Putin will ‘fall ill’," noted the advisor to the head of the President’s Office.

He also did not rule out the possibility of a third option being chosen - something like Putin playing hockey and injuring his knee, and now moving around on crutches.

Leshchenko emphasized that no envoys from Putin for negotiations with Zelenskyy are of interest.

"His representatives are not interesting to anyone, because this is a leaders’ format. Here, the President of Ukraine, as a successful hunter, is driving Putin as game to certain boundaries, because he is constantly trying to maneuver," he added.
