Macron warned Putin: either a ceasefire or new Western sanctions

Western countries have set a deadline for Russia to respond to the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire. If this does not happen, sanctions against the aggressor will be intensified.

This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron, reports Le Figaro.

"This afternoon I will be talking with (President of Ukraine - ed.) Volodymyr Zelenskyy and my European colleagues. We have set the framework, everything is clear," emphasized the French leader, commenting on the ultimatum for Russia.

He reminded that the head of the Ukrainian state agreed to an unconditional 30-day ceasefire with Russia following the relevant proposal from the United States. At the same time, yesterday, May 11, Zelenskyy expressed his readiness to hold talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Istanbul. This is the second time that the President of Ukraine has "made significant concessions."

"Now we all need to be sensible. Either Russia, Mr. Putin (Russian dictator Vladimir Putin - ed.), is serious and wants peace, or it is not serious, and we must impose even more sanctions," added Macron.
