The occupiers shot two Ukrainian prisoners of war in Donetsk region, — Office of the Prosecutor General
Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched regarding the commission of a war crime that resulted in the death of two Ukrainian military prisoners of war (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
On May 22, 2025, the occupiers attacked the positions of the Defense Forces near the village of Udachne in the Pokrovskyi direction. Four Ukrainian servicemen were executing combat missions, two of whom were captured unarmed and shot in a forest belt with machine guns. The fate of the other two soldiers is currently unknown.
The deliberate killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a grave international crime.
Urgent investigative and search actions are currently underway to establish all circumstances and individuals involved in the crime. The investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
