As indicated, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is eager to discuss possible steps with Zelenskyy regarding further technical negotiations between Ukraine and Russia during their personal meeting.
In addition, the issue of further military support for Ukraine is likely to be on the agenda.
Merz also plans to inform the Ukrainian President about the plans for a new EU sanctions package against Russia, aimed at increasing pressure on Moscow and encouraging serious negotiations.
Zelenskyy is expected to also meet with the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in Berlin.
