Ukrainian engineers have created a high-tech air defence system named Sky Sentinel, which has already proven its effectiveness in real combat conditions by destroying enemy drones like the "Shahed".

United24 media reports this.

The main feature of the system is full autonomy – it is operated by artificial intelligence without the involvement of an operator. The system automatically receives radar signals, independently detects targets, calculates trajectories, aims, and opens fire to quickly respond to aerial threats even during mass attacks.

The basis of the system is the M2 Browning heavy machine gun, supplemented with sensor systems and artificial intelligence algorithms. Sky Sentinel is capable of destroying small targets moving at speeds up to 800 km/h, including "Shaheds" and even smaller drones.

The effective firing range reaches up to 1.5 km, but the true combat parameters are kept secret. The cost of one system is about $150,000, which is significantly cheaper than launching a missile from a standard air defence system.

"For effective city protection, 10 to 30 turrets are needed. And since each "Shahed" costs about $100,000, Sky Sentinel offers a cost-effective response to the constant threat," the developers noted.
