On the night of June 1, 2025, Russia carried out the largest air attack since the beginning of the full-scale war — 479 aerial targets were launched against Ukraine.

This was reported by the spokesperson of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ihnat, in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda.

According to him, the enemy strike included various types of weaponry: cruise and ballistic missiles, Shahed kamikaze drones, as well as interceptor UAVs. Despite the active work of air defense, which managed to destroy over 200 targets, some of them reached their targets on Ukrainian territory.

"When the on-duty forces looked at the map — it was all red from aerial targets," Ihnat noted.

In response to the unprecedented threat, the command of the Air Force is already preparing new drone air defense units. In particular, this involves the creation of anti-aircraft drones that will be used to intercept enemy UAVs. The preparation of such systems is already underway at various locations across the country.
