Lomachenko announced his retirement from sports

The lightweight boxing world champion Vasyl Lomachenko has announced his retirement from the sport.

He made this announcement in a video posted on his Facebook page.

"In every boxer’s life there comes a moment when he ends his career. For me, that day has come," he said.

In the 2.5-minute video, Lomachenko expressed gratitude to Jesus Christ "for everything he has done for me," as well as to his parents, his promotional company, and even the United States - "for the opportunity to realize myself."

"And, of course, it would be wrong not to mention you, boxing fans all over the world. You have always supported me warmly and experienced these unforgettable fights over the years. Peace to all," the boxer added.

However, he did not make any mentions of the war, Ukraine, or any other issues related to Ukraine.
