An inmate of the Lukyanivska pre-trial detention center set up a drug supply channel
In the capital, law enforcement officers uncovered an inmate of the Lukyanivska pre-trial detention center who, according to the investigation, organized a drug supply channel to the correctional facility. The monthly profit from the "business" amounted to approximately 200,000 hryvnias.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine. The suspect and his accomplices could face up to ten years in prison with confiscation of property.
According to law enforcement, they uncovered a supply channel for drugs and psychotropic substances to the Kyiv pre-trial detention center, organized by a 26-year-old inmate. He conspired with his younger brother, who is also in a correctional facility, and two accomplices at large. The latter were responsible for purchasing drugs, forming parcels, and sending them to the detention center as postal packages for further distribution of the "goods" among inmates.

Part of the profits from the prison "business" was distributed among the perpetrators, used to develop the drug business, while the rest was added to the "community chest." The monthly profit from the "business" was about 200,000 hryvnias.

During searches in the cells of the drug trafficking organizer, his brother, and the residences of accomplices in Kyiv and the capital region, police seized mobile phones, bank cards, and draft notes on "accounting."

The suspects have been charged. Measures are currently being taken to identify other individuals who may be involved in drug trafficking in the capital’s detention center.
