The attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region did not bring the desired result
The reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, namely the 225th and 425th assault regiments, were involved in the execution of these tasks. The initial plan was to reach the village of Glushkove, located 10 km from the border. However, according to one of the commanders involved in the operation, this goal was initially "unrealistic" due to a severe lack of personnel to hold the territory in case of a breakthrough.
One of the Ukrainian soldiers figuratively described the situation when asked about the advance on Tyotkino: "We are stepping on the same rake," meaning that the attacks are repeated without sufficient resources for further defence.
Political Maneuvers and Losses
According to one of the commanders currently fighting in the Sumy region, these maneuvers might be more of a "political issue," aimed at demonstrating Ukraine’s capabilities or providing arguments for negotiations. He also noted that the Russians are putting in more effort when fighting on their territory, leading to constant assaults.
Ultimately, assaults in the Tyotkino area, like earlier attacks in the Belgorod region, "did not achieve the desired result." In Tyotkino, where only partial success was achieved, assault actions have already ceased.
Lack of Reinforcements and Exhaustion of Forces
One of the fighters who participated in the advance on Tyotkino shared the reasons for stopping the assaults: "The Russians brought in elite paratroopers, and some of our units refused to take positions to hold the flanks. And our battalion has been worn out by this month’s assaults, so we are now mostly on the defensive." This indicates serious resource and coordination issues that have affected the course of operations.
