In Ukraine, requirements for digital wallets have been established
The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution defining the requirements and establishing rules for the operation of digital wallets with electronic identification in Ukraine.
This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
«The Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution that opens up opportunities for the use of digital wallets with electronic identification (eID) in Ukraine. This is the next step towards integration with the EU’s single digital space», the statement reads.
A digital wallet is an application that allows you to store documents, ID data, electronic signatures and use them online. With its help, it will be possible in Ukraine and abroad to verify identity, receive government services, open accounts, register SIM cards, or use an electronic prescription.
The adopted resolution defines the requirements for such wallets - both Ukrainian and European - and establishes rules for their operation according to eIDAS 2.0 standards. This means complying with security requirements, data protection, and mutual recognition of electronic identification between countries.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation emphasizes that this is the second step on the path to implementing a digital wallet according to the European model. Ahead are testing, technical integration, and launch.
