The death of Ali Shamkhani has been confirmed in Iran — he was one of the most influential figures in the country.
Shamkhani was a key advisor to the Ayatollah on security and foreign policy issues. In the past, he served as the Minister of Defence and for nearly ten years led Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
It is also known that Shamkhani had good connections with Western diplomatic circles — especially in Washington and Europe. He died in the hospital following injuries sustained in an Israeli attack.
