Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, 105 rescuers have died. More than 500 employees of the State Emergency Service (SES) have been injured.

This was reported at a briefing by SES spokesperson Oleksandr Khorunzhyi.

"Our country is engaged in a full-scale war against an insidious aggressor without principles, capable of striking at rescuers who are virtually unarmed. And right now, we have a sad statistic – 105 rescuers have been killed, and 502 SES employees have been injured," he stated.

The agency’s press officer emphasized that, despite all implemented safety measures, there is always a high level of risk in the work of rescuers.

"Therefore, of course, we apply algorithms for aerial reconnaissance and dispersal of personnel, especially during alerts, but during war, there is no 100% guarantee of protection for people, because we are in the business of saving people, where there are always risks," Khorunzhyi explained.
