The German publication NTV reports that with the intensification of attacks on Kyiv, the flow of refugees from the Ukrainian capital is increasing.

In June, Russian strikes on the city became not only more frequent but also destructive: the head of the Kyiv military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, stated that 285 drones and 65 missiles were launched at the city in just one month. In comparison, only 35 drones and one ballistic missile were recorded in January.

Since the beginning of June, 42 people have been killed in Kyiv, including an 11-year-old girl, and more than 230 people have been injured. The strikes come in waves: after drone attacks, there is a short pause, followed by missile strikes.

Due to this situation, many residents are once again considering moving. «Previously, it seemed that Kyiv was the most protected city, but now it’s becoming clear that it might be better to move to a small town», says 25-year-old Ivan Ryabokon.

Residents who returned last summer, like Valentyna Osyadych with her daughter, are now again doubtful about the correctness of their decision. They are forced to sleep in an underground parking lot, consumed by anxiety.

Authorities note an increase in departures from Kyiv, especially among families with children. The reason is not only the destruction but also emotional exhaustion. Rescue service psychologist Lyubov Kurnos says that people expect miracles from them, and it’s very difficult. After one of the strikes, she provided assistance to 120 victims.
