MP Anna Skorokhod stated about schemes of misappropriation of "combat" payments in the Ukrainian army

Corruption schemes involving combat payments to those not on the front line are thriving within the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was stated by Member of Parliament Anna Skorokhod, who criticized the commanders, accusing them of appropriating funds allocated to their subordinates.

«In our country, people who in no way are on the frontline are being assigned a "hundred" (100,000 UAH in combat payments, — ed.), and then these funds are taken away. Or, for example, military personnel are used for building houses or repairing commanders’ apartments, with combat payments being assigned to them, which are then also handed over to the leadership», — Skorokhod explained.

According to her, soldiers also face extortion: «They just demand money from the guys, supposedly because they are receiving a hundred, and the command is not. So "let’s share"».

The MP believes that such abuses and the impunity of the command are precisely why servicemen are massively going AWOL (unauthorized absence from the unit).

«When there’s no one to complain to, when no one hears or wants to hear, people simply gather in groups and leave the units. Because it is impossible to endure this», — Skorokhod concluded.
