At the Tysa checkpoint, border guards of the Chop detachment detained a 19-year-old resident of Lviv who tried to illegally cross the border with Hungary. This was his thirteenth attempt to leave the country bypassing the law.
This was reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine - Western Border.
The offender noticed a border patrol when he was approaching the border on foot, bypassing the checkpoint. The young man did not have any documents with him.
According to the detainee, he attempted to flee to the European Union due to difficult financial circumstances. Since he had no legal grounds to leave under martial law, he decided to cross the border himself — this time through Chop. He traveled by train from Lviv, reached the checkpoint on foot, climbed over the fence, and hoped to secretly enter Hungary.
As the border guards found out, the young man repeatedly tried to illegally leave the borders of Ukraine. Since November 2024, he has attempted to cross the border with Moldova, Slovakia, and Hungary multiple times.
This time the offender was detained administratively. He faces liability under Part 2 of Article 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses — for attempting to illegally cross the state border.
