Shmyhal may be appointed as the Minister of Defence, Svyrydenko — the new Prime Minister

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal may head the Ministry of Defence, while his current position will be taken by Deputy Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing its own sources.

According to the publication, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already made a decision on major personnel reshuffles in the Cabinet. It is expected that the current Minister of Defence, Rustem Umyerov, will move to diplomatic service and become Ukraine’s ambassador to the USA.

There are also plans to merge some ministries and redistribute powers within the government. Several current ministers may lose their positions, but final candidates are still being discussed.
