The son of the Pryluky mayor has been detained for systematic drug trafficking
In the city of Pryluky, located in the Chernihiv region, the police detained a local resident suspected of systematically distributing cannabis within the city and district.
During searches of the man and his car, substances resembling particularly dangerous psychotropic drugs — methadone and amphetamine — were also found.
This was reported by the Chernihiv Regional Police on their official website.
According to Suspilne’s own sources, it became known that the detainee is the son of Pryluky city mayor Olha Popenko, Yaroslav.
In a comment to Suspilne, the official noted that "she does not believe this and does not want to believe it."
"I believe this is related to my job," emphasized Olha Popenko.
Currently, police investigators are continuing the pre-trial investigation into the criminal proceedings initiated for repeated illegal distribution of narcotics (part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The article’s sanction provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 6 to 10 years with confiscation of property.
