The United States has changed the queue for Patriot: Germany will receive the systems earlier — for the sake of helping Ukraine
The Trump administration has changed the priorities in the supply of Patriot air defence systems, giving Germany preference over Switzerland, reports The Wall Street Journal citing U.S. officials.
This decision may allow Berlin to transfer two of its systems to Ukraine.
The Swiss government confirmed that the U.S. has revised the delivery schedule to increase support for Kyiv. Initially, Switzerland expected to receive five Patriot systems in 2026–2028, but now the delivery timelines remain uncertain.
According to Bild, the system currently being manufactured by Raytheon for Switzerland will not be ready for another 6–8 months. Nevertheless, instead of going to the Alpine republic, the air defense system will be sent to Ukraine, and Germany has agreed to finance the delivery.
