The agency’s statement clarifies that it refers to an employee who, working in the Ministry of Internal Affairs from 2012 to 2015, sent data about Ukrainian citizens via email to an employee of the Ukrainian State Guard Department. In 2014, this employee fled to Russia and has been working in the Russian Federal Protective Service since 2020.
NABU reports that the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) conducted a check on these connections and found “no evidence or indications that the NABU employee was aware of the SSA representative’s ties with Russian special services; they were not found.”
“This was also confirmed by an SSU representative during personal meetings… In August 2024, the SSU verbally informed that during the investigation of the treason case involving the mentioned former SSA employee, no involvement of the NABU employee was found. There is no evidence of participation in anti-state activities,” the statement reads.
