Patriot for Ukraine: Norway is ready to facilitate the acquisition of the air defence system

This was stated by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin, reports a Ukrinform correspondent.

Støre recalled that Norway has already transferred part of its NASAMS systems to Ukraine, but does not own Patriot systems.

Currently, the country supports Germany’s efforts to purchase Patriot systems for Ukraine from the USA and is ready to participate in financing.

"Norway is ready to provide significant additional funding for Ukraine’s air defense..., ready to share the costs," said the prime minister, adding that if other countries decide to join financially, "that would be good."

According to him, negotiations are currently underway, and all possibilities are being discussed.

At the same time, Store noted, he understands that for Germany to transfer additional Patriot systems to Ukraine, a "clear signal from the USA" is needed that they will receive replacements.

He expressed hope that everything will happen quite soon.

According to the Norwegian politician, this is the fastest way to help Ukraine, which urgently needs protection amid devastating attacks from Russia.

"We are talking about how we can transfer systems, including Patriot, to Ukraine," emphasized the head of government, stressing that European partners need support from the USA.
