A medic of the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade reported concealment of losses and pressure from the leadership: an investigation has been initiated
Head of the medical station of the 3rd mechanized battalion of the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade, Senior Lieutenant Andriy Zotya, reported "outrageous" violations by the brigade’s leadership and concealment of medical losses.
This was reported by the military on his Facebook page on Monday, July 21.
According to him, the brigade’s leadership demands the cancellation of discharges of service members due to health reasons. In addition, the senior lieutenant claims he constantly receives orders not to provide medical assistance to the battalion’s fighters.
Andriy Zotya released several audio files. It is claimed that one of them is a conversation with the head of the medical brigade, Dmytro Bashmakov, during which Zotya reports that he received an order to examine a wounded soldier and not to send him for further evacuation and "if there are only fragments – to remove them himself."
"Well, follow the orders. What can I say? Also, do not file Form 100. I don’t know what’s going on there. It’s not only with you – this happens in other battalions as well," Dmytro Bashmakov replies.
In the conversation with Bashmakov, Zotya explains that the wounded soldier needs a tetanus shot to avoid complications. Andriy Zotya emphasizes that in the event of a soldier’s death, he does not want to end up in prison. To this, Bashmakov replies: "No one will end up in prison because it is war."
The soldier also stated he is aware of cases of concealing medical losses in the unit, which are not recorded in the combat journal. Andriy Zotya claims that the violations in the brigade occur under the leadership of the brigade commander Andriy Borodin, and the head of the medical service, Dmytro Bashmakov, "is solely engaged in covering up the criminal orders of the brigade and battalion commanders."
"I am ready to provide testimony and evidence to law enforcement agencies about the outrageous violations by the leadership of our brigade, battalion, and their professional incompetence," Andriy Zotya stated.
The 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade reacted to his statement. They reported that a service check has been initiated, including with the participation of the military law enforcement service. The audio recordings provided by the military medic will be examined "within the framework of the current legislation."
"The command expresses its readiness to facilitate an objective investigation and emphasizes the inadmissibility of pressure on medical workers or the restriction of service members’ rights. If the reported facts are confirmed, those responsible will be held accountable according to the norms of the military and criminal law of Ukraine," stated the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
It should be noted that according to open sources, the 60th Separate Mechanized Inhulets Brigade is performing combat missions in the Lyman direction.
