Nazariy Husakov does not plan to evade the investigation and will cooperate with law enforcement — lawyer

Nazariy Husakov, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy and is soon to be charged with several articles, has no intention of hiding from the investigation abroad.

This was reported to Suspilne by his lawyer, Nataliya Beldiy.

According to the lawyer, as of the morning of July 24, Husakov had not yet been charged.

"... After the charges are announced, and I believe they will not be in absentia, because in this case the Prosecutor General knows the whereabouts of Mr. Nazariy Husakov, so issuing charges in absentia is impossible. Once such charges are announced, Nazariy Husakov and I will choose a defence strategy in this case. Nazariy Husakov intends to cooperate with the investigation and the court," says Beldiy.

According to her, her client is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Milan. He plans to return to Ukraine afterward.

The lawyer says that the purpose of Husakov’s trip abroad was not to evade criminal prosecution, but for treatment, which he urgently needed because his health had sharply deteriorated. According to her, Husakov currently cannot look into the camera, cannot hold a phone, and even finds it difficult to sit in a wheelchair.

"When he leaves the hospital after his long treatment, there will be discussions about providing him with a special wheelchair because the previous one does not perform its functions and cannot ensure his transportation anywhere," the lawyer explains.

Beldiy also noted that she is not ready to comment on her client’s guilt or innocence, as charges have not yet been announced.
