The Ministry of Defence failed defense procurement worth 30 billion hryvnias — the equipment will not reach the front
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine failed the state defence capability program amounting to over 30 billion hryvnias.
This is evidenced by an official letter from the acting director of the procurement department of the Ministry of Defence, Oleksandr Osadchyi (extreme right in the photo), who is a close associate of Deputy Minister of Defence Mykola Shevtsov.
As reported, the failure means that in 2025 military equipment and weapons worth 30 billion UAH will not reach the front lines, which is critical during a full-scale war with Russia.
Deputy Minister Shevtsov, according to sources, was brought into the Ministry by former head of the defense department Rustem Umerov, who allegedly promised him career advancement in exchange for loyalty. It is Shevtsov who oversees the procurement sector and was supposed to control the work of the State Defence Procurement Agency, headed by Arsen Zhumadilov.
In military and anti-corruption circles, the failure is considered one of the biggest blows to the country’s defense capability in recent times. It endangers the timely provision of the Armed Forces with the necessary means for conducting combat operations.
The situation is already causing concern in society, given that the volumes of international assistance are decreasing, and internal resources must be used as efficiently as possible. It is expected that the government will provide public explanations regarding the failure soon, and anti-corruption bodies will initiate an investigation.
