
The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating all the circumstances of the tragic accident on July 24, in which 57-year-old politician and entrepreneur Yaroslav Rushchyshyn died. The accident happened on the Mukachevo-Lviv highway, near the village of Babukhiv, Ivano-Frankivsk region.
The press service of the SBI reported that the Prosecutor General opened a case due to non-compliance with road traffic safety rules.
Law enforcement established that Yaroslav Rushchyshyn was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle. He collided with a trailer attached to a tractor driven by a local resident.
“The incident occurred at night, under conditions of limited visibility. As a result of the collision, the Member of Parliament suffered severe bodily injuries and later died in an ambulance. Immediately upon receiving the report of the accident, the SBI’s investigative and operational team arrived at the scene. Specialists worked all night, inspecting the scene, recording evidence, collecting footage from surveillance cameras, and interviewing witnesses,” reported the SBI.
Currently, the Prosecutor General has opened a case regarding the violation of road traffic safety rules, which led to the death of the victim (Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanctions under this article provide for a penalty of three to eight years of imprisonment with the deprivation of the right to drive vehicles.
Additionally, Yaroslav Rushchyshyn was a well-known Lviv public figure, philanthropist, and businessman. He was a co-founder of the art association "Dzyha" and the founder of the "Trottola" sewing company network. Since 2019, he served as a Member of Parliament from the "Holos" faction.
