The former member of parliament from the Party of Regions, Hrushevskyi, will be tried for treason: the case involves sabotage on the railway and surveillance of Hordon

The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv received an indictment on July 23 against Vitaliy Hrushevskyi, a former member of parliament of the VII convocation from the Party of Regions, and two other defendants.

This was reported by "Sudovyi Reporter" with reference to the data in the "Judicial Authority" system. The court’s composition and the time of the preliminary hearing have not yet been determined.

At the end of August last year, the Security Service of Ukraine detained four individuals involved in a case of state treason, sabotage activities, and preparation for a terrorist act.

According to the investigation, the suspects blew up a railway track in the Poltava region to hinder the logistics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They also planned several more explosions on the railway used by the Defence Forces to transport equipment and personnel.

Ex-MP Hrushevskyi is considered the curator of the agent network. The other detainees are a probable executor of the sabotage, a supplier of explosive devices, and a female agent who conducted external surveillance.

Overall, on the assignment of the FSB of the Russian Federation, the group members also allegedly collected information about Ukrainian citizens who were of "interest" to the Russian special service, including their places of residence, daily schedules, and social circles.

The Security Service of Ukraine published photos of correspondence between the figures regarding journalist Dmytro Hordon.

Some media reported that the Russian agents allegedly planned a contract killing of Hordon. However, currently, the only victim in the case is a branch of Ukrzaliznytsia.

A group accomplice in February 2025 entered into a plea agreement and committed to cooperating with investigators by providing testimony. Instead of state treason and preparation for a terrorist act, she was charged with the illegal transfer of information about the location of military servicemen.

According to the verdict, in the morning of August 26, 2024, the woman arrived at the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory on Lypky Street in Kyiv on someone else’s assignment, entered the courtyard, and saw military personnel near the entrance of a building with red facade decoration. The perpetrator took six photographs showing servicemen near the entrance, a pedestrian area, and parked vehicles nearby. She returned home and intended to send the photos to the client, but did not have time. That same day, the Security Service of Ukraine searched her residence and seized a mobile phone with the photographs.

According to the case materials, the accused photographed a temporary location point for employees of one of the Security Service of Ukraine’s divisions.

Under the agreement terms, she was sentenced to five years in prison, suspended with a probation period of two years.

From open sources, it is known that this woman sued for recovering earnings from the parliamentary television channel "RADA," where she worked as a host and chief broadcasting producer in 2013.
