Zelenskyy arrived in Washington

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, arrived in the United States for a visit. In a meeting with President Donald Trump, he assured that he seeks to achieve lasting peace and make Russia stop the war.

This was reported in the Telegram channel of the head of state.

Zelenskyy emphasized that "we all equally want to quickly and reliably end this war," and the peace must be lasting.

"Not like it was years ago, when Ukraine was forced to give up Crimea and part of our East - part of Donbas, and Putin used it merely as a foothold for a new attack. Or when Ukraine was supposedly given ’security guarantees’ in 1994, but they didn’t work," the president noted.

In the head of state’s opinion, Ukraine should not have given Crimea to the Russians in 2014, ", just as after 2022, Ukrainians did not give up Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv".

He noted that currently, the Defence Forces are having successes in the Donetsk and Sumy regions. He is confident that "we will protect Ukraine, ensure effective security guarantees, and our people will always be grateful to President Trump, everyone in America, and every partner for their support and invaluable assistance".

"Russia must end this war, which it started itself. And I hope that our combined strength with America and our European friends will force Russia to true peace," Zelenskyy noted.
