Canada has revealed details of a new military aid package for Ukraine: armored vehicles, drones, and air defence systems
In the office of the Prime Minister of Canada, details were provided on how the previously announced military aid of 2 billion Canadian dollars (approximately 1.5 billion USD) will be spent.
Details of the new defense package were revealed in the office of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney during his visit to Kyiv.
“835 million CAD (approximately 650 million USD - ed.) will be spent on purchasing various critical equipment for Ukraine, including armored vehicles, medical equipment, spare parts, small arms, ammunition, and explosive materials, as well as additional drones and other critically important equipment and supplies for Ukraine,” stated Carney’s office.
An additional 500 million USD will be spent by Canada on purchasing military equipment from the United States “to enhance Ukraine’s air defense capabilities and provide other capacities.”
“220 million CAD (approximately 170 million USD - ed.) will be allocated for the purchase of drones and anti-drone weapons, as well as electronic warfare equipment, including investments in joint Canadian-Ukrainian enterprises,” noted the office of the Canadian government head.
In addition, 125 million USD will be used by Canada for “supporting ongoing efforts within the framework of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.”
Also, 100 million CAD (approximately 75 million USD - ed.) will be allocated by Canada for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine as part of the Czech Initiative.
The remaining 31 million CAD (approximately 23 million USD) will be directed toward providing humanitarian aid.
