A new stage of strategic partnership: Ukraine and Canada identify key areas of joint security
Ukraine and Canada have officially launched an action plan to implement the security cooperation agreement. The document envisages several areas of cooperation at once.
This was reported by the website of the Office of the President.
During today’s meeting, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney signed the action plan for the implementation of the security cooperation agreement between Ukraine and Canada.
This plan defines the main directions and mechanisms for the implementation of bilateral cooperation in the security sphere. It covers:
- military training,
- building defense capabilities,
- intelligence sharing,
- cybersecurity,
- combating terrorism and hybrid threats.
It should be noted that Ukraine and Canada signed the security cooperation agreement on February 24 of last year. At that time, Canada was the first country outside of Europe to confirm its security commitments to Ukraine.
Thus, the two countries have initiated a strategic security partnership in various fields.
