French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Ukraine on Independence Day on Sunday, August 24. Notably, he did so in the Ukrainian language.

He emphasized the courage and bravery of the Ukrainian people, who continue to fight against Russian aggression for their sovereignty and freedom.

"On this Independence Day of Ukraine, we honor the courage and bravery of the Ukrainian people, who, 34 years after declaring independence, continue to fight against Russian aggression," Macron noted.

The President added that Ukraine’s struggle is not only about defending its statehood but also about protecting shared values and the security of the entire European continent.

"For their sovereignty and for their freedom. For our shared values and for the security of our continent. Ukrainians, in this fight for justice and peace, France will always stand by your side – today and tomorrow," the French President emphasized.
