Shelling in Sumy region: three people wounded, communication disruptions

On Tuesday morning, August 26, the troops of the aggressor country Russia attacked the Shostka community in the Sumy region. Civilian infrastructure was hit by enemy fire, and three men were injured.

The community was left without electricity, and there are also disruptions in communication. The consequences of the attack were reported by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, and the press service of the Shostka City Council.

What is known about the shelling of Sumy region on August 26

According to the head of the Sumy region, the Russian army attacked civilian infrastructure in the Shostka community in the morning.

Men aged 35, 44, and 48 sustained injuries. All have been hospitalized, and medics are providing them with the necessary assistance.

As a result of the strikes, part of the Shostka region was left without electricity, Hryhorov reported.

Critical infrastructure is operating on backup power, and there are communication disruptions.

According to the official, Invincibility Points have been deployed, and restoration work is ongoing.

The mayor of Shostka, Mykola Noha, reported that the Vovnyanskyi starosta district was among the areas hit by Russian strikes.

Infrastructure facilities were destroyed there, and six settlements in the community are without electricity and communication.

In addition, a multi-story building and six private houses were damaged.

As a result of a second strike by an occupiers’ drone, electricity was cut off in all settlements of the Shostka community.

Sumy district was under attack at night

On the night of August 26, the occupiers struck the Sumy district. In particular, the village of Tokari was attacked.

About eight houses were damaged there, including the household of Halyna Shakleina, the starosta of the Tokari starosta district, according to "Suspilne".

In addition, at 3 a.m., the enemy attacked a private household in the Bezdryk community of the Sumy district with a drone.

A 51-year-old resident of the house and her 63-year-old neighbor were injured, as reported by the Sumy region prosecutor’s office.

Under the procedural guidance of the Sumy District Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted into the commission of war crimes (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
