The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has launched an investigation into the manufacturer of the "Flamingo" missile and the Fire Point strike drones.

This was reported by Kyiv Independent.

According to the publication, detectives are investigating whether Fire Point inflated the cost of components or the number of drones supplied to the Ministry of Defence. The possible connection of the company with Tymur Mindich, co-owner of the Kvartal 95 studio created by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is also being investigated.

"Until recently, the weapons manufacturer was virtually unknown outside Ukraine’s defence circles, despite appearing to be one of the largest—if not the largest—recipients of budget funds from the Ministry of Defence for drones, according to documents obtained by the Kyiv Independent," the article states.

"But in recent weeks, Fire Point has launched an active promotional campaign, promoting its long-range FP-1 drones and ’Flamingo’ cruise missiles in Western media. In his first public comments about this weaponry, Zelenskyy last week called the ’Flamingo’ the most successful missile Ukraine has in its arsenal for defence against nearly four years of Russia’s full-scale invasion," the outlet writes.

Ukraine has prioritized the development of long-range strike drones and cruise missiles to target Russian positions far beyond the front lines and slow down Moscow’s war machine.

"As part of the NABU investigation, the agency is checking whether the company inflated the cost of its components or the number of drones it supplies to the military," the report states.

Fire Point emerged in 2023 and quickly became one of the key contractors for the Ministry of Defence. It is the producer of the long-range FP-1 drones and the ’Flamingo’ cruise missile, which Zelenskyy recently called the most successful in Ukraine’s arsenal.

In 2024, the company sold drones to the state for 13.2 billion UAH (about $320 million), receiving almost a third of the entire Ministry of Defence’s drone budget. According to management, Fire Point manufactured about 2,000 units and plans to increase production to 9,000 units by 2025.

The NABU investigation takes place amid broader scrutiny of defence procurement and after government steps perceived by experts as efforts to undermine the bureau’s independence. Fire Point denies all accusations, calling the case political.

"There is no point in looking for secrets where there are none," said Iryna Terekh, Fire Point’s Technical Director.
