The "Coalition of the Willing" summit on security guarantees for Ukraine begins in Paris
In Paris, at the Élysée Palace, a meeting of the "Coalition of the Willing" begins, chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron together with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
«Heads of state and government will discuss the work on security guarantees for Ukraine, which has been carried out by the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee over the past weeks. They will draw conclusions from Russia’s refusal to accept peace following the meeting in Washington on August 18,» the Élysée Palace stated.
Ten leaders of countries will participate in the summit in person. In addition to Emmanuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, these include Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa will also take part in the summit. Another 28 leaders will join the meeting via video conference. A call with U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled at the conclusion of the event.
